My East Mt. Zion history began in September 1959. Bessie and Herbert Booth were my parents who joined EMZ in 1942, with Rev. William Moses Downs as their Pastor. I was raised by my grandparents until I graduated from high school in Tamms, Illinois and then I came to East Mt. Zion.

Church Activities

I started in the cradle roll department of the Sunday school.

Love and Marriage

I met my future husband, William Thomas Geter, Sr. in 1960 in the balcony of EMZ while he was Ushering. We started dating, then courting, and we weremarried shortly thereafter. There were two children born to this union, William Thomas Geter Jr., and Karen Geter. By 1965 we enrolled our children in the cradle roll of Sunday school at EMZ. I attended with them, and later became an assistant teacher in that department.
