Returning soldiers were objecting to blacks and they were there Were people hurt. In fact, my mother’s brother, I believe, was beaten in one of the race riots and he died. Subsequently, he became immobilized and died. So my mother and her older brother moved to Cleveland to live with Harry and Louise. He went to Shaw High School. Then they moved over to 98th Street where she attended Glenville and she grew up there and after she got married to my father, lived in various places all on the east side from 86 to 80 second Street, ultimately to 98th Street.
